She was supposed to love him. She claims she did. He thought she did. But what Michelle Williamson did to her lover Ian McNicholl will turn your stomach. There was no love there.
She abused Ian for years. Threats, beatings, you name it. She would throw boiling water at him, spray bleach into his eyes, it was awful. She would often force him to s*xually satisfy her too, despite the abuse. And only after humiliating him.
‘There was never any remorse. She’d do it, then send me out for cigarettes. She definitely got off on it. She’d rant, ‘You don’t love me enough, you have five minutes to be ready for sex.” he says.
He suffered multiple fractures to his skull, cheekbones, limbs and nose. He had three ribs cracked and terrible burns on his arm from an attack with an IRON.
‘That, of course, is the last thing on your mind. Then she’d say, ‘You now have four minutes, three minutes. At the end of five minutes, she’d blocked out what she had done.’
‘She was friendly, she had a good sense of humor. Perpetrators will strike when they know they have control.’
‘There is a grooming process. Manipulation leads to isolation, isolation gives the perpetrators control. My tactic was to not do anything that would make her angry.’
‘Then, all of a sudden, she switched the vacuum cleaner off, grabbed the nozzle and whacked me across the face with it. I could feel my cheek split. She would show off my injuries to her friends.’
‘I felt as though I couldn’t walk away, because she told me she had family who were involved in organised crime who would kill me if I left her. I felt I was trading with my life. I was brought up well and taught never to hit a woman – and I didn’t lay a finger on her.’
Williamson was arrested and charged. Ian is now free from her and starting his life again.
Domestic abuse can affect woman AND men. Never forget that.
