You’ve seen the Netflix true crime show Making A Murderer. You know the controversies surrounding Brendan Dassey‘s imprisonment. Well, now it’s been ordered that Dassey be released from jail. He’s to be supervised by the US Probation Office, of course. But this really does put a twist on the case.
Back in 2007 the 27 year-old was accused of the murder of Teresa Halbach, two years previously. Dassey’s uncle, Steven Avery, is also serving time in jail – a life sentence. Many people think he may be innocent as well.
The judge on the case had already repealed Dassey’s sentence back in August based on the fact that the young man’s constitutional rights were actually violated many time back during his interrogation.
Judge William E Duffin said this about Dassey’s release: “Dassey’s conduct during the interrogation and his reaction to being told he was under arrest clearly indicate that he really did believe that, if he told the investigators what they professed to already know, he would not be arrested for what he said.”
Here’s the court order signed by Judge Duffin:
