President Trump – still feels weird to say it, doesn’t it? The man’s gonna be POTUS and he’s gonna do it his way. Clearly. He’s not a man to follow the rules. So much so that he’s not even gonna get paid for his new role. Does it make Donald Trump a remarkable man for turning down the $400,000 pay check? Well, maybe not. He is a multi-billionaire, after all. But still. It’s quite the gesture.
He had said – last year – that he wouldn’t take a cent if elected: “The first thing I’m going to do is tell you that if I’m elected president, I’m accepting no salary, okay? That’s not a big deal for me.”
He’s also said that he doesn’t think he’ll be living in The White House or even Washington DC full time. He wants to remain spending a portion of his time in his home town of New York City. Despite every President ever taking the salary and the house and relocating. Still, he’s not your regular politician, is he…?
And that announcement comes just days after word spread around DC that Trump had submitted architectural changes to be made to his new home.
“As far as the salary is concerned – I won’t take even one dollar. I am totally giving up my salary…”
Here is the man confirming his position on the $400k during a Q&A he hosted on his famous/infamous Twitter account:
