The police get a hard time. Especially at the moment. And it’s hard to truly say that none of it is deserved. As with anything, it’s complicated. There are some really bad apples in police departments all across the country – and world. But there are also a lot of dedicated, hard-working and caring cops.

One little lad wanted to give his thanks to his local police officers. Five year-old Jayden. So he went in to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department with a ‘Free Hugs’ sign around his neck…

Here’s what mom posted on Facebook: “This little boy was woken up and scared from the helicopters and sirens outside our home last night. On the way to school he heard about the injured police last night on the radio and asked if he could bring them donuts and give them a hug after school. That’s just what he did.”

Jayden then proceeded to hand out all his hug all around. Hug after hug. He then tells the officers there that he appreciates their hard work and protection.

He also says this: “I’m happy the police officers didn’t get really hurt. I want you to stay safe and I don’t want anybody to hurt you.”
